So far we’ve talked about the “classic” model: you manage the artist, INarte keeps the ownership, you earn commissions. But for the most ambitious creators there’s a second path — more demanding, but with one big advantage: the intellectual property stays yours. It’s the Publisher Model (or Creator-Owned Artist).
What’s the key difference? In the standard model the artist belongs to INarte and you manage it. In the Publisher Model you are the owner of the artistic identity: the character, the name and its works are yours. INarte doesn’t own the artist, but obtains commercial exclusivity to distribute, sell and promote it.
How it works, in practice:
Editorial contract → you sign an agreement that defines the rights between you (the publisher) and INarte (the distributor).
Exclusivity of at least 3 years → during this period INarte is the only one distributing and commercializing the artist.
Production commitment → you commit to delivering 2-3 original songs per year, to keep the artist active and alive.
Base split on transactions from 20% → you keep earning on sales, just like in the standard model.
Custom songs off by default → “publisher” artists don’t automatically accept GiftSong requests, to protect the consistency of the project (you can handle this separately).
Standard Model vs Publisher Model
| Standard Model | Publisher Model | |
|---|---|---|
| Artist ownership | INarte | You (the creator) |
| What you get | Management license | Authorship rights + distribution |
| Commitment | Stay active | 2-3 original tracks/year + 3-year exclusivity |
| Ideal for | Starting easy and fast | Those who are serious and create their own content |
Who is it for?
For those who want to build a lasting project and truly own it.
For those willing to commit to consistently producing new music.
Less suitable if you just want to try the platform or lightly manage several artists: in that case, the standard model is perfect.
In short: the Publisher Model is the step from “manager” to “real music publisher.” More responsibility, more commitment — but also an artist that is truly yours.
